In November 2019, I was selected by my college to take part in the Graphic Design Festival 2019 live project. With mentorship from FortyTwo, I had two days to "create something inspired by what [I] identify with as home."
My idea was based on a simple concept: "everyone has a different interpretation of home, but one thing they all have in common is Earth."
Marble asks you to enter your name, and pick a shape, and based on that alone it pairs you with three random strangers from around the world. No questions about your nationality, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation – nothing.
You can chat with them, as much, or as little as you like. If you don't like what someone's saying, tap block and you'll never see them again. The coveted spot they held in your Marble will be filled by someone else.
All of the screens were created by me in Sketch, and all of the animations were created by me in After Effects. I created the logo in Illustrator.
I was delighted to be selected as second place in my group, winning a placement with my mentor, FortyTwo. I look forward to working with them in the future.
